From Block Gauges to Machining Centers

In 1928, the predecessor of Mitsui Seiki first saw the light of day in the Rokugo district of Tokyo's Ota Ward. At that time, the company manufactured measuring instruments, including block gauges and micrometers. Mitsui Seiki's quest for "precision" had begun.

In 1935, the company developed the #4 type jig boring machine, which became Japan's first mother machine. For a long time, there had been a desire by Japan and its industries for this machine to be domestically manufactured. Since then, jig boring machines have become synonymous with mother machines.

Currently, Mitsui Seiki offers a lineup of mother machines extending from jig boring machines to jig grinders, horizontal and vertical machining centers, 5-axis control machining centers, and screw grinders that support leading industries around the world.

Fusion of Ideal Environment and Dexterous Skills

A mother machine cannot be created without the combination of highly advanced designing, processing, assembling and measuring skills. In addition, an optimal factory environment that takes into consideration factors such as temperature is also essential for the mother machine's successful development. Our dexterous skills handed down over 70 years and our factory environment allow Mitsui Seiki to create these machines.

Mitsui Seiki's Machine Tools Division moved from Tokyo's Ota Ward to Kawashima Town in Saitama Prefecture in October 2001. With our other dedicated machine tool factories built in Kawashima, Mitsui Seiki is shipping mother machines around the world.

In the history of Mitsui Seiki from its establishment until today, "precision" has never ceased to maintain our central focus. Our insistence on high precision will continue to remain at the core of Mitsui Seiki for years to come.
